So several questions regarding the Geek/Nerd/Dork/Brainiac/Spaz dating scene.....
1] Would you say that the more successful combinations tend to be a matched pair [geek+geek, spaz+spaz...etc], a HeteroGenous combo [geek+dork...etc.] or one plus a muggle?
2] Are unorthadox relationships more successful for muggles or those of us who not so mundane [as above GNDBS]?
3] How many sucessful geeky relationships have you had?
4] Do you find more success in finding a date in a 'singles' atmosphere or in standard social events wherein you might develop a friendship with someone?

Re: Topic: Success?
Thu, February 7, 2008 - 6:19 AM1 - I *do* think that I have more successful relationships with fellow geeks. I have dated a non-geek, and I seriously missed being able to share my geekery with them. I very much want someone who doesn't looked bored to death at a con, and who wants to watch my SciFi shows with me, and knows a geek-culture reference when I use one.
2 - What do you mean by unorthodox here? I know that there are many more geek/sci-fi/faire people than muggles in the kink community, for instance (don't ask me how I know that...I think I read a study). Once an outsider, always one perhaps?? Is that what you mean?
3 - It only because important to me later in my life, but all of my geeky relationships have been/are successful, I think. The only bad thing is that sometimes it's difficult to get geeks in the same meat space <lol>. It's awesome when it happens, though.
4 - Definitely the latter. Though I'm missing out on a cool speed dating thingy this month that I was really game to try, as it fit my demographic perfectly <sigh>. I met my life partner the old fashioned way (through friends), and it's been great. I'm not shy about the singles thing, but it hasn't ever really appealed to me, since you can't get a super great read on a person's BRAIN in a bar or at a party.
