Re: Random Attempt to Jumpstart Conversation
Wed, September 17, 2008 - 1:32 PMI'm not sure I agree with any of it, Paula, but damn it's entertaining!
I don't drink much. I drink only on social occasions, and not even then most of the time. I'll drink at party, if I feel the need to reduce my inhibitions. Sometimes a friend will call me up on a lovely weekend afternoon and we'll have Gin and Tonics. I'll drink wine with dinner if others are also and if someone else picks it out. I know almost nothing of wines.
I used to drink more. Beer quite frequently, but I don't really like beer, and I gave it up once I realized I was just drinking it to fit in. Sometimes, as with wine, if someone else gives me a taste of a really well made beer, I can appreciate it. But I don't seek it out, and I never keep it at home
I know I got laid more when I drank more. -

Thu, September 18, 2008 - 8:39 PMHmmm. I don't drink at all so I couldn't say.
I always thought that my dad drank because he spent his days teaching obnoxious jr. high kids American History. I'm convinced my mother drank because it was the only way she could stand my dad.

I'm not sure I agree with any of it
Thu, September 18, 2008 - 9:21 PMCool. To be frank, I can't say that I really agree either, however I'm kinda stuck with regard to how to get things going here. There used to be several very active people and they're either hooked-up or have left tribe due to its donut problems. :|
I must somes to drinking, I certainly no longer do it to get drunk, though twice somewhat inadvertantly in the last year I did. Once on an amazing Beligan that had way more alcohol than I realized, and the other was on a 6 or 7 course tasting menu at Gary Danko, and of course we paired wines. Okay..the latter was somewhat advertant..but it was amazing.
I have become somewhat of a fan of wine, curses to Mark for introducing me to some incredible bottles and totally awesome food to go along with it. It will become an expensive though not frequent habit I think.
Yeah, the drinking = getting laid thing can be dangerous. In general I haven't known anyone who was stoked the next day over their experience. -

Fri, September 19, 2008 - 2:23 PMSex + alcohol = frustration, in my experience. At least at the level required to lower the bar to people you wouldn't otherwise consider.
I like graph-y things, especially ones that move. -

"Sex + alcohol = frustration, in my experience"
Fri, September 19, 2008 - 2:39 PMGood Point. For me, I am not the type to even drink if I am prowling. Though I was seduced with a great Pinot once, it did not result in sex that night or anything.
I like graphey things too. -

Re: "Sex + alcohol = frustration, in my experience"
Fri, September 19, 2008 - 4:57 PMI didn't mean to imply that sex and alcohol were a good combination. Just that when I did drink, I got laid more. I'm an introvert, and it's rare that I come out of my shell enough to attract any feminine attention. The alcohol would sometimes overcome that. -

Re: "Sex + alcohol = frustration, in my experience"
Fri, September 19, 2008 - 6:53 PMI think we got that impression. There are parts of me as well that are inhibited when I drink, though it is generally my neuroses, which makes me less of a thinker, but in some cases, easier to digest for the non-thinkers. -

Fri, September 19, 2008 - 2:27 PMYeah I thought so, though I can't say that this is the origin of my spiritual doubt, I wonder if it is for others.
