As the moderator, I had tried several different tactics and found that the right combination has been to make it a social situation with no pressure on the love connection. As painful as it seems for muggles to get together, in some ways, it is even harder to get geeks [for the most part] to come out of their shell and flirt and ask people out on dates etc.

I don't want this to be the high pressure envrinoment that comes out in things like speed dating etc. so instead I have tried to do social events.

On a personal note, I have had several dates happen from this tribe and pretty much every one of them has revealed a gem of a friendship. I did start a relationship that lasted several months through geek dating, but it turned out there were a couple key differences between us, so it didn't work out. Still, I don't find -any- of my dates to be anything less than fantastic connections.

I think there have been three issues that have kept this tribe less active in the last few months. One is what has lowered the activity everywhere and that's Tribe's donut bonanza of downtime, then the fact that the most active women on this tribe all now have S.O.'s and lastly, I have moved from the bay area to Sac so I am unable to lead events. I'll take responsibility for two of these factors, but it has been very tough recruiting chicks in the past. I'll keep on trying.
