Ok there has been a huge lull in this tribe and all I can say is who is a Ren Faire geek? If you are interested there are plenty of faires in CA. If you live in CA or elsewhere with an upcoming faire why not organize a meet up! Regardless of whether you are a hardcore ren geek or not just go and have fun and take friends it's always more fun that way. I unfortunately won't be able to make most faires this season, but Fair Oaks is coming up this weekend near Sacramento, CA and the next one I know of is in August the San Francisco Gate faire I believe, There are a ton of others just look if up on the various ren faire websites if you don't already have them bookmarked just do a search, just be sure to check the specific faire website to make sure that faire is still active. If you sew etc why not organize meetings to learn and help each other make costumes and plan a faire to attend in costume!

Re: Hazzah to all geeks!
Sun, June 28, 2009 - 3:45 PMOoo- I'm pretty sure I'll be going to the one in SF! I went last year and did well in archery! Hit the wolf right on the nose. The interaction with other costumed characters was great, too. -

Re: Hazzah to all geeks!
Thu, September 3, 2009 - 12:02 AMOh I wish I could be there. My kid and I both have new longbows and we give the neighbors something to talk about when we practice out in the yard. What fun to take our inner history geeks out to play. -

Thu, September 3, 2009 - 6:43 AMI seem to remember the SCA holding an annual archery and poetry event at GG park. Maybe that would suffice?

Re: Hazzah to all geeks!
Thu, September 3, 2009 - 7:23 PMYou know, I don't usually, but we have a new camera and the hubby is hot to take it along...I think that there will be a LOT of pics <lol>. Man, I can't WAIT. We're so overdue.
To keep my vacation on a geek topic, I'm seeing John Barrowman in a West End production of La Cage while I'm there ; ). There's also a Torchwood convention during the time that we're planing to be in Edinburgh, but it's in Northampton, so we probably won't get to that <g>. -

Re: Hazzah to all geeks!
Sun, September 13, 2009 - 5:26 PMWent to the Faire today. Huge grounds so it was quite spread out - no crowding. No mead either. One os the smallest faires I've been to, but still entertaining, and I love dressing up. There was a 70/80 year old lady learning to belly dance with a troupe, and she was doing great! Also super horse tricks, very interesting musicians, magic tricks, dancing/singing - and that lizard/demon guy who seems to be at every faire. If you've been, you know who I mean!
