Re: Which lord of 16th C Japan were you?
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 8:15 AMToyotomi Hideyoshi
From being a young recruit in Oda Nobunaga's army, Hideyoshi worked hard to prove his strength and brilliance to become one of his most trusted generals. After Nobunaga's death, Hideyoshi continued his rule and even spread his reach to the smaller islands of Japan.
Focus hard and anything may be achieved. Do not give up and everything could be yours.
To compare three of the greatest lords, a small story is told. When presented with a bird that cannot sing, the replies are;
Nobunaga: Kill it.
Ieyasu: Wait.
Hideyoshi: Make it want to sing.
(I really like the bird story) -

Re: Which lord of 16th C Japan were you?
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 8:18 AMHideyoshi is probably the most pivotal Shogun, and he was considered something like the village idiot before he rose to power.
Cool. -

Re: Which lord of 16th C Japan were you?
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 8:47 AMHey! Oh well, I suppose I seem like the village idiot to some people.
I have mixed feeling about Japanese stuff. War-like and misogynistic, but I love their art, tried to learn the language but it was too hard for me... maybe because the class was at 8 in the morning, and in college that seemed harsh. -

Hahaha!
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 9:02 AMSorry, I meant that people didn't give him enough credit at first. He was passionate, determined, and very smart. His passion and expression in Japan is what probably made him seem a little crazy.
FWIW the misogyny only came about after confucianism came along. There were actually women samurai before that [okay women samurai who weren't just married off to bare children for some guy].
Tomoe Gozen is my favorite.

Re: Hahaha!
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 9:30 AMNo, I kind of like being compared to someone that's underestimated. And I didn't know about the women samurai - I thought that was just a sorta movie thing.
